Mewgenics is also coming to PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S on September 8

Mewgenics, which is currently available on PC, will make its way to PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S on September 8. Geoff Keighley first announced the console version release date verbally during the gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live stream, following a live musical performance featuring the game. Nicalis later published an official press release to confirm the news.

As a refresher, Nicalis had previously teased the Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 versions of Mewgenics last March. But during gamescom 2026, there is also an additional confirmation for Xbox Series X|S.

You can find a copy of Nicalis' press release right below. Mewgenics has been available on PC via Steam since last February.

Nicalis officially announces September 8, 2026 as the release date of the critically acclaimed tactical strategy/role-playing game Mewgenics on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

In the latest game from the creators of The Binding of Isaac and The End is Nigh, players selectively breed different species of cats and send them off in groups to do battle in turn-based tactical combat. Those who survive can breed with other cats to produce new generations with the superior traits and/or illnesses of their ancestors.

To encourage healthy offspring with useful abilities, Mewgenics players can sequester specific cats and decorate their surroundings with found items that influence their comfort, health or stimulation. Naturally, mutations also occur, which often grant both unusual powers and challenging handicaps.

Mewgenics will be available on September 8, 2026 as a digital download on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for $39.99.
