Pokemon Bank will be completely shut down on February 25, 2027
It has always been an inevitable forthcoming, but that time is finally upon us. The Pokemon Company has revealed that they will completely shut down Pokemon Bank on February 25, 2027, in the Americas at 19:00 PST or 22:00 EST, or February 26 in Asia Pacific at 12:00 in Japan's time zone (GMT+9).
Even though the overall server for the Nintendo 3DS has long been gone, Pokemon Bank has still been kept alive for longer. But after the cut-off date in late February next year, it will no longer be possible to directly transfer Pokemon from 3DS and older games, unless there are future ports on ongoing platforms (such as the Switch releases of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen).
As a reminder, Pokemon Bank directly supports the following 3DS Pokemon games, which also constitute Generations VI and VII:
- Pokemon X and Y
- Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire
- Pokemon Sun and Moon
- Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon
In addition, players can also use Poke Transporter to bring Pokemon from the following older games playable on the 3DS:
- Pokemon Black and White
- Pokemon Black and White 2
- Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal (3DS Virtual Console releases)
- Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow (3DS Virtual Console releases)

Pokémon Bank, a Nintendo 3DS application that lets players deposit or withdraw Pokémon they have befriended in Pokémon titles on that system from online Boxes, will be ending service on Thursday, February 25, 2027, at 7:00 p.m. PST.
As a result, transferring Pokémon from Pokémon Bank to Pokémon HOME will also no longer be possible. If you have Pokémon stored in Pokémon Bank that you wish to carry over, please move them to Pokémon HOME prior to Pokémon Bank’s end of service. Please note Pokémon Bank is not currently available for download.
