Pirate & Dark Mage is coming to PC via Steam first via Early Access

MofuWorks has opened a Steam page for their upcoming life simulation RPG Pirate & Dark Mage. This game will launch first with an Early Access version expected to last around a year, although the Japanese indie studio has yet to provide an exact release date.

This game appears to be made with an RPG Maker engine, but players will be able to customize the UI positions to their liking. The player character will be able to interact with the active world, but the choices they make will also influence the game's world.

The Steam page also contains an AI disclosure segment where the studio claims that there would be no AI-generated content created dynamically, but they did use AI as development aid for several code and audio-visual asset generations, although the developer still claims to have manually modified the resulting assets.

You can find the official screenshots and descriptions for Pirate & Dark Mage right below. The game will be available in Japanese, English, French, German, Korean, Thai, and Chinese (Traditional & Simplified).

Pirate & Dark Mage is a game where you can live at your own pace and go on adventures in a calm, unhurried world.

Your choices naturally shape how the world unfolds—and how the story changes.

Create a world that’s yours alone, and enjoy it your own way.

◆ The World

Through your adventures and your connections with the residents, the world and its stories gradually open up.

Take it easy for a day, or dive into quests and crafting—it’s entirely up to you.

◆ Exploration

Gathering points are scattered across the fields.

Defeat monsters and collect materials for crafting and quests as you explore.

There’s no stamina system, so you’re free to roam as long as you like.

◆ Battles with Monsters

Combat is turn-based, menu-driven.

As you grow through crafting and quests, you can even avoid fights altogether.

◆ Life Elements

Tedious chores like constant watering have been boldly removed.

Instead, you’ll find light life-sim elements—fishing, tending your fields, and bonding with animals—

designed to fit naturally alongside your adventures.

◆ A Branching Story

The story changes with your choices and your relationships with the residents.

Create a world that belongs to you alone.

◆ Flexible UI Layout

You can freely adjust the size and position of the UI.
