How and when you can respec in The Outer Worlds 2

The Outer Worlds 2 is now available for Premium Edition owners worldwide on PS5, Xbox, and PC platforms. Despite banning respec, you do get one chance to respec in The Outer Worlds 2. This guide will cover when and how you can do that early on, but will not include any story spoilers including the prologue.

Can you respec in The Outer Worlds 2?

You can, but only after finishing the first main mission which is essentially the tutorial or prologue. This happens before you land on the game's first major open world biome as well. It gives you a chance to decide if you like the current build you have or to change things up.

How to respec in The Outer Worlds 2

When you complete the first mission and wake up (I'm being vague to avoid story spoilers) in your ship, you are given one chance to respec as shown in the screenshot below. This is the only time you can do this aside from when you begin a new character save file.

The Outer Worlds 2 launches October 29 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam, Microsoft Store, and Battle.net). Read Alex's interview with Obsidian's Brandon Adler here, Adam's interview with Brandon Adler and Matthew Singh here, Junior's review here, and my handheld impressions here.
